A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth Street, Coeur d'Alene. Jon W. Rosene, 54, of Rathdrum passed away from natural causes March 20, 2008. He was born May 10, 1953 IN Miami, FL., to Carl H. Rosene and Lucile (Jergesen) Rosene. Jon graduated from San Carlos High School, in California, in 1971, and then from De Anza Junior College in California. After graduating, Jon worked for Ames Research as an industrial designer, and then for Hewlett Packard in Santa Rosa, CA. In the late 1970's, he transferred to Hewlett Packard in Spokane, WA. and bought 5 acres in Rathdrum, where he could enjoy his horses and his beloved dogs. Jon was devoted to his dogs, beginning with Bardahl, and then Annie, Gunner, Jigger, and Gunner II.
Jon was the owner
and publisher of a small local paper called the Bar Towel and Fish
Wrapper News. He insisted on reporting only "good news" and
many people enjoyed reading his humorous articles. Jon was a master
craftsman and inventor, spending many years working on projects in
his shop. He also enjoyed hunting and shooting skeet,
listening to "oldies", and creating an incredible music and
movie library, which he loved to share with his family.
Jon loved the 49ers
and the New York Yankees, but was especially proud of his nephew,
Jason Botts, who plays baseball for the Texas Rangers.

His sisters: Barb
Bacon and her sons, Carl David Bacon and Richard Jon Bacon, all of

I knew Jon because he was a customer of Washington Trust Bank. I have been
here 6 years and had the pleasure to wait on him many times. I had great
conversations with him about his dogs or computers. He always took several
taffys for the dogs for treats. He will be missed.

Oh Rosene, you have been my neighbor forever. You made people smile when they
were around you with your sweet grin, always ready to give a helping hand. I
loved your enthusiam about your latest projects and your love for your dogs.
There was a special kindness in your heart. You will be missed dear friend. I'll

Dear Rosene Family --
I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Jon at HP in Spokane in the 1980's
and remember him well. He lived just down the road from my former in-laws, Jack
and Kate Johnson, and also close to where I lived. The last time I was in
Rathdrum, I remember thinking of Jon as I drove by his place wondering if he
still lived there. I should have stopped by to say hi. What a wonderful guy Jon
was. Fly well, my friend.

My condolences to the family of Jon. I met Jon when I moved here in 1978 and we
became good friends. He was one of the funniest people I have ever met. He was
also kind and compassionate.I even knew Bardahl, Jon's "baby".
There is no doubt in my mind that if there is a Humane Society in heaven, Jon is
running it.

Here was a gifted fellow whose interests were wide. It was always a pleasure to
be around Jon and when he was litle, over fifty years ago, as a next-door
neighbor, I babysat him many times. When he grew up he helped me
with my pen and ink drawings by telling me to use different sized
pen points. His sharing that simple little bit of information
allowed me to get depth in my work. He was generous, kind and willing to
share. I will miss this talented young man.

For the first four years of my life Jon was my next door neighbor, both our
families moved, and have kept in touch ever since. Jon was a year older
than me, a huge "generation gap" in our kids world.
Over the years I found Jon to have a great sense of humor, he could always find
something funny in almost any situation, and was the first one to get a group
laughing, not at something, but with each other.
My deepest sympathies go to Jon's family; Carl, Lucille, Barbara and Judy.

We have known Jon for a long time, first meeting him, I think at Charlies Acres.
He was always very interesting to visit with, and was alot of fun. I remember
one particular trail ride we went on, and Jon was the "cook".
That was the best flank steak we ever had, no kidding! Never tasted
another one that would come close to his. Loved his dogs too! (We
are extreme dog lovers) As we grew older, our lives, like many others,
changed, so we did not see him that often. Once in awhile we would run
into him.
Our condolenes to his family. We shall see you again, Jon.

Hey Jon! If anyone could figure out how to check in on us down here, you can, so
here's the latest. Judy and I got home safely last night with Jigger and
Gunner II. They slept on your old bed last night, at Mom and Dad's, and Judy
said they knew you had been there, and went right to sleep and they were
peaceful. Your neighbors, John and Debbi were absolute angels to us, and nobody
could have made us laugh like Rob, at your service. Mom and Dad, Judy and I know
you are in a peaceful place. I miss you, Jon and I know when I say, "love
you" you are saying back "same here". XOXOX Barb

We always enjoyed seeing Jon when he was back in California for the important
holidays or celebrations. He was always so gracious and made us feel a
part of your family. We were impressed by his broad knowledge -- cooking,
music, photography, etc......
Our hearts go out to you, Judy, Barbara, and the kids.
We love you!

Bar Towel and Fish Wrapper newspaper, big smile, love of labs, sense of humor,
skilled craftsman, loved his family. These are all memories I have.
Again, condolences, deepest sympathy, and love to remaining family members I
love very much. Thinking of all of you as you grieve, and remember the
good times. Lots of love and prayers are being sent your way.
Love,
Liz and Don
