I had the privilege of knowing and working with Don for many years. In addition to having a real passion for child welfare, he always had a big smile and words of encouragement for everyone. Don always had a great fishing or hunting story to tell - some of which were greatly exaggerated but nonetheless entertaining! A great guy I am proud to have known and I know he will be greatly missed.

We will always remember Don's friendly face and helpful attitude when we shopped Ace Hardware. He always shared his great love for Anthony and Nick and how he was so blessed. He was happy and seemed content at living each day.

When I was a young and single mother, Don took a chance and hired me as a temporary worker in his office. That temporary job later became a full time position giving me an opportunity to not only better my life but the lives of others as well. Consequently, I am still working in the public service sector today nearly 35 years later. Don's dedication to his profession and his words of encouragement to me will forever be etched in my memory. I feel very blessed having known Don and certainly appreciative of the encouragement and confidence he extended to me.

I had the pleasure of meeting Don about eight years ago through Post Falls High School athletics. Don was very proud of his grandsons and it showed. We met again last summer (if memory serves) while he was working at Ranch & Home in Post Falls. Don came over to assist me with a question I had, I was wearing a T-shirt with Eastern Oregon University Logo on the front and he asked if I had gone to school there. I said no, it was a gift from my son Robert who went to PFHS with Anthony & Nick and is currently enrolled at EOU. Don said he went to school there many years ago and had fond memories. He asked how my son was doing and was genuinely interested in his well being, we then discussed his family and he tells me that Nick was leaving for Nashville soon and how much he was going to miss his fishin buddy. I very much enjoyed that short visit with Don. He will be missed.

We are saddened to learn about Don's passing and know that he will be missed by all that knew him. He was such a caring person who was full of life and enjoyed so much of it. Don was a great teacher, was so practical and supportive in his work and his love of family was so clear to all.

We had the benefit of Don's knowledge and experience as part of his Social Services staff. He was always interested in making a difference and he helped shape the careers of many.
