Gary was one great guy who was fun to be with. One of the fondest memories I have was when we were on a ski trip and he and Denny had to go through customs twice so they could back track to the store and buy some Canadian beer. (Kokanee Gold) I am sure the customs guys were shaking their heads at the Americans.

Keim Family,

I had the honor of working with Gary at the Kootenai County Jail, and learned how to be a court transport officer from him when I was assigned to be his partner. He went on to be a court bailiff and I went onto juvenile probation. Our paths would cross quite often in these new professions and Gary would always stop to talk when he had the time. I considered him a friend and know he will be greatly missed. GOD BLESS YOU GARY!

One of my fondest memories of Gary was the day he walked into the booking area of the jail with his pistol still in it's holster. This is a BIG no no, as weapons are not allowed into the jail. Fortunately as his transport partner I was the one to notice, and not one of the sergeants on duty. I quickly walked up beside him on his weapon side, tapped the pistol grip and asked him if he had forgotten something. Gary made a mad dash to the vehicle sally port, trying not to draw attention to himself, and secured his pistol. You had to be there to really appreciate this story.

My cousins were a very special part of my life while growing up and Gary, Denny and Gerrine were indeed like brothers and sisters. Though separated now by miles, Gary took on the role of connecter and made sure that family bond stayed tight. Thank you so much, Gary, for all the calls those last two weeks to keep me informed about Denny. Rue, you also were special to my family, and I'll hold you particularly close in my heart.
