I'm happy for Merle. She's free! I'll miss her greatly, but I will see her
again. The week she died, I told her she'd soon be kicking up her heels in
Heaven and how I wished I could see her. She laughed.
I have so many fond memories of Merle. She was a delight to know. We
first met when Mt. View Bible Church held its very first meeting at English
Funeral Home. Through the years at church we had so much fun. She
had a ready smile and was game for most anything. It was hard to see her
deteriorate in the last few months. Now her suffering is over, and I'm sure she
regards it as a small thing compared to the glory she's enjoying with the Lord
and her family and friends who went before her. I love you, Merle.

Merle will be missed by many, in the community in the churches and to all her
friends she met over the years.
I knew Merle for Joyful Life Bible Study and also from the Post Falls Community
Presbyterian Church. I remember her wit and sound knowledge and wisdom.
Most of all I know she had a profound love for her Lord Jesus Christ.
I know she is now in heaven with her Lord Jesus.
My condolences to her family whom I know will miss her greatly.

I rejoice, as do the angels, that Merle has gone to be with Jesus. For several
years she wondered why God hadn't taken her home, as her heart was already in
heaven and she was weary of being trapped in her body here on earth. All who
knew her, however, were always encouraged by her ready smile, laughter, and
caring ways. She had a strong heart physically and spiritually.
I will never forget her. I too remember her from years back (1978) at the
English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, when MVBC was getting its start. It seems
she has come full circle back to this place. She and her husband Ernie also
bought their house from my parents, Conrad & Heidi Gutierrez. So I knew her
from this connection also; she was like family. I recall fondly so many dinners
shared with Merle & Ernie in their Post Falls home. She truly had a gift for
hospitality...and I am sure she is entertaining angels now ... and laughing
joyfully with them. I will never forget that laugh.

Merle and I shared many years together - most of them living in the same house
or at least on the same property when we lived in the midwest - Iowa, Nebraska,
and South Dakota. She was my mother-in-law. She was a wonderful
person, and I will always be grateful for her love and help for all those years.
I was only 18 years old when I left my family in Canada and came to the USA.
Merle and Ernie took me into their family and loved me from the start.
Merle was always there for me, and when the children started arriving she was
like my right arm. I don't know what I would have done without her.
The years we spent together on the farm we some of the happiest years of my
life; and three days before Merle went to be with the Lord, we had the most
marvellous conversation about "the old days", canning tomatoes,
picking corn and butchering chickens. We both had a good laugh. It's such a
comfort to know this earthly life is not the end...but really only the begining.
We'll be together again, when we can celebrate "the good new days"
I love you Mom, Jini

Merle you were loved by everyone that met you. You were a precious gift in
the lives of are family. The stock of the coffee and chocolate companys has
dropped since you left us to be home with the Lord whom you loved dearly. We that
are left here cry tears of joy that your suffering is over and we cry for
ourselves as we will miss you so much.

Grandma Merle was and always will be a big part of our families life.I will
never forget her big Smile and her wonderful laugh. It seems like such a long
time ago that we first met her and Ernie at MVBC. I remember going to visit her
at her home and later to the nursing home with my mother and father and
how happy she was to see me. She will be missed by our family dearly and mostly
by my Mother. Thank you Grandma Merle, for all the fond memories that you have
given me and my family. God Bless, Eric Schauer
