Tex was always bigger than life, a natural born story teller and the father of one of my favorite high school friends.
I'm so glad I ran into Star, Tex and Louise this past year. He still had such a twinkle in his eye and even though it had been decades since we'd seen each other he knew me immediately. I had to chuckle to myself that even sitting in a wheelchair, Tex was riding high in the saddle. He had a John Wayne kind of persona.
I know that Star's heart must be broken. From one daddy's girl to another, big hugs to you, my friend.

To the entire Sigler, Shewey and Svendsen family, we wish to say how sad we are for the loss of Tex.  The world needs more of men like Tex and that makes it an even greater loss.

Growing up in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in the 60's & 70's was special.  People like Tex and Louise made it so.  Whenever Star would take us to her home, Tex and Louise always made us feel like we were a part of their family.  Tex would tell wonderful stories and when we went to leave, he always told us to have fun because that is what life is about.  He adored his family.

When Star and I (Mary) left for Alaska in 1970, Tex pulled me aside to thank me for getting her away from an abusive boyfriend.  I don't know if the young man was abusive but I, like Tex, did not feel he was good enough for Star.  Of course, there were very few men, in our eyes, that ever fell into that category.  Star was Tex's baby and very special to her family and friends.

Over the years we would all get together now and then.  Tex would talk about visiting our place so he could see the elk herds.  We wanted to have the entire family up for dinner.  It seems like health problems and life activities just kept that from happening.  This has taught us not to put off important get-togethers with family and friends.

We loved Tex like a second father.  He had a big heart and a wonderful laugh.  Tex was not afraid to express his opinions and whether or not you agreed with them; you had to respect the passion in his voice for his beliefs.

We are sure that Tex knows we will all be there for his family until we are together again.  Jan, Joanie, Cheri and I will take care of your Star as always.  So rest easy Tex, you deserve it.

With much love,

Mary and Rod Dougall
