Rojean, Fred and all of Lance's family and friends,

There are no words that express my heartfelt sorrow.  I have sat here for hours trying to fill this space with words to let you know the depth of my feelings but nothing comes.  I can't say I understand how you feel or offer words of incouragement; all I know and believe is that God has a plan for each of us that can not be altered by you or me. I do believe he is there in times like this silently helping us endure the pain no matter how deep, and there is another life we'll lead and we will all be reunited again.

I would like to submit the following poem.

Don't Tell Me That You Understand

Don't tell me that you understand, don't tell me that you know
Don't tell me that I will survive, how I will surely grow.

Don't tell me this is just a test, that I am truly blessed
That I am chosen for the task, apart from all the rest.

Don't come at me with answers that can only come from me.
Don't tell me how my grief will pass, that I will soon be free.

Don't stand in judgement of the bonds I must untie.
Don't tell me how to grieve, don't tell me when to cry.

My life is filled with selfishness, my pain is all I see,
But I need you and your love more then ever  ...Unconditionally.

Accept me in my ups and downs, I need someone to share,
Just hold my hand and let me cry, and say "My Friend, I care."

Sincerely and with love,
Valerie

We share your grief in this very difficult time. we pray that God gives you the strength to get through this void in your life. You will be O.K. I know how strong you are, and will be. He left you Ashley to love. He will live on in your memory of good times past. We thank God that we have not had to experience this kind of tragedy, so I can,t say "I know how you feel". But I know it must be a terrible loss. God be with you.

To the family of Lance Roy,

I am so sorry for your loss, but am grateful I got to know Lance.  He and I spent 4 months together working aboard fish processing vessels in the Bearing Sea in the early portion of 2001.

Lance was a breath of fresh air.  He and I got to know each other fairly well since we were working side by side for 16 hours a day.  Lance was always playing harmless practical jokes and it still makes me laugh thinking of some of them.  Lance is still one of the only highlights of my time in the Bearing Sea.  I will miss him and his humor.

I was shocked to read in the CDA Press that he had passed away and am so sorry for your loss.  I will continue to pray for your family.
