Joan,

I am so sorry to read of Tom's passing.  I worked in the SCC Admin. Bldg. in the early 80's.  I was the counseling secretary from 1981 to 1983.

Tom had such a big heart and it was obvious how much he loved his family.  He was always one of my favorite counselors!

Sincerely,
Patti McGregor Tufts

Joan,
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom a couple years back--she was also cared for by the Hopice group in Spokane.
I played football for Coach on the '66 (?) undefeated team at East Valley. I can still hear two great things I heard him say: On throwing a pass "miss by an inch, miss by a mile-it's still incomplete!" When we were running out the clock in one of our tougher games, I had alraedy run two QB sneaks. When I got up to straighten my helmet, I looked over and saw Coach pointing to the end zone, and at the top of his lungs saying "Run it again, run it again!" I was so afriad of the middle linebacker accross from me, I asked the referee how many seconds we had left to snap the ball, he told me 23, I saw 20 seconds on the game clock, and told my teamates the first guy to leave the huddle was going to be tackled by me!
The next year I had to have surgery on my knee after the first game. Coach was the first to visit me in the hospital, and I think genuinely concerned about how I would come out of the surgery. I will never forget Coach. David Whitford
