Alice Lenore Claflin

July 27, 1936 – October 28, 2022

Alice was born July 27, 1936 to Carl “Axel” Peterson and Gerda Peterson (Peterson) in St. Maries, Idaho.  She passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, surrounded by family members.

She lived with her parents and grandparents in Emida, moving to St. Maries during grade school.  She attended grades 1-3 in Emida and finished her schooling in St. Maries.

She met the love of her life, Clifford Claflin, April 1952 and married on June 13, 1953.  She defined what a homemaker and stay-at-home mother was. She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother providing a loving environment for her family to grow and reach their full potential.  She shared a compassion for country music and dancing with Cliff, dancing a lifelong waltz with him.  She loved supporting her children in all their childhood pursuits, having various leadership roles: Bluebirds and 4H for the daughters, cub scouts and the number one sports fan for her son’s sporting events, all the while teaching them important life skills.  She was a people person, outgoing, gathering a network of lifelong friends wherever they lived.  She was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes and cherished quilts for the family and doing plastic canvas artwork.  She enjoyed camping and fishing with the family and family reunions with the extended families.

She is preceded in death by her beloved Cliff, her parents, brother Arthur, son Rodney Claflin, daughter Connie Masterman and son-in-law Jerry Allbee.  She is survived by daughter Wanda Allbee, son’s Mike (Margeux) Claflin and Gary (Leisa) Claflin as well as grandchildren Kevin, Brandy, Amy, Brian, Tricia, Nicole, Ryan and Alex and fifteen great grandchildren Mason, Austin, Jade, Nathan, Justin, Brandon, Colby, Richard, William, Jeremy, Natasha, Declan, Isabella, Caleb and Kyle.

She is missed greatly by family and friends.  The family will be holding a memorial service on November 12th at 3pm at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’ Alene.
