Allan M. Gathercoal

February 19, 1953 — February 23, 2026

Allan M. Gathercoal, born on February 19, 1953, in Burtonwood, England, at a United States Air Force base, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026.

A proud veteran, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and courage. His commitment to service extended far beyond the battlefield and became the foundation of his life’s work.

He pursued his education with passion and purpose, earning a degree in psychology, a master’s degree in theology, and ultimately a Doctorate in divinity. His faith was not only something he studied — it was something he lived. For several years, he served as a devoted pastor, guiding and uplifting his congregation with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people.

Driven by a profound calling to serve those in greatest need, he founded Flying Doctors of America 35 years ago. Through this organization, he helped build an orphanage and led medical and dental missions to underserved communities around the world. His leadership brought healing, hope, and dignity to countless lives. He believed that faith must be put into action — and he did exactly that.

He was a man of vision, integrity, and extraordinary kindness. Whether through ministry, humanitarian work, or personal relationships, he devoted his life to lifting others. His legacy is not only in the institutions he built, but in the lives, he touched and the love he gave so freely.

He will be remembered as a veteran, a scholar, a pastor, a humanitarian, and above all, a man whose life reflected compassion in motion.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Liz Marcela, and all who were blessed to know and love him.

His life was a testament to service. His faith was lived. His love endures.

Allan’s funeral service will be held this Friday in Post Falls at English Funeral Chapel, located at 1700 N. Spokane Street, at 11:00 a.m.
