Amy Ruth Wrobel Lyons -- 72

Amy died peacefully in her sleep while vacationing in California on March 15, 2026. She was born to Charles and Dorothy Wrobel on April 30, 1953 in Beverly Hills, California. She spent her early years there, and then the family moved to Buffalo, New York after the passing of her father.

After graduating high school, Amy attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she majored in history. She had long loved and excelled at debate, and upon graduation she decided to become a lawyer. She attended the University of San Diego Law School, graduating in 1982. She was highly regarded and well liked everywhere she practiced.

While practicing law in Los Angeles, she met the love of her life, David Lyons. After a “secret courtship,” they eloped to Victoria, British Columbia, where they were married in the Rose Garden of the Empress Hotel on June 23, 1989. They were devoted partners in every aspect of life, from occupation to interests and hobbies.

After retiring, Amy and David were seeking a beautiful, peaceful and friendly place to live. Of course, they found all of that in Coeur d’Alene. They moved here in 2012, and began making their mark in our community. Using their professional skills, they vigorously asserted the rights of their Midtown neighborhood and friends solely for the satisfaction of helping.

Amy was a voracious reader, an active member of the Jane Austen Society, a volunteer Judge and dedicated USO volunteer in California, and a prize-winning pie baker at Kootenai County fairs and a Public Library volunteer here. She loved to knit, and was a member of the North Idaho Brazilian Embroidery Enthusiasts. Over the past 25 years, she reached out and discovered her Jewish heritage and faith, including several trips to Israel.

Amy is survived by her loving husband and partner David, her brother Charles, and her many friends. Funeral services will be held at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene, ID, on Friday April 3, with a viewing at noon and service at 1:00. She will be laid to rest in Riverview Cemetery immediately following.

Amy’s warm smile and quick wit be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
