Annette Marie Bauman Carraher

On Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, Annette Marie Bauman Carraher was welcomed into her Lord’s kingdom where she joined her husband, Mike, and many other loved ones. Annette was 70 years old.

Annette, “Annie”, was born on January 26, 1954, to Dr. James and Loretta Bauman. She was the fifth in line of eight brothers and sisters, and what a beautiful baby she was with deep and velvety dark brown eyes. Annette attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, Sacajawea Jr. High, and Lewiston High School. She then attended Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, where she obtained a degree in nursing. She became a traveling nurse for a time before settling at St. Joseph Hospital in Lewiston, where she met her beloved husband, Dr. Michael Carraher. They were married on October 12, 1985, and moved to Phoenix for a time. From Arizona, she and Mike moved to Spokane and ultimately settled in Post Falls, Idaho. Together they raised Mike’s children from a previous marriage, Patrick and Malia. Annette and Mike were each other’s best friends and supported each other through life’s ups and downs.

Annette was a dedicated and caring nurse, and she worked in several areas of nursing over the course of her 40-year career. For the majority of those years, she served in the children’s psychiatric unit of Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. She and her co-workers strived to provide children with the tools to succeed in life. She led with compassion and love, and she took great pride in helping children look to a brighter future.

Annette loved the outdoors and spending time camping, hiking, sailing on beautiful Lake Couer d’Alene, hot tubbing, and sitting in God’s creation. Both she and Mike were in awe of the beauty and wonder of the hummingbirds that found their way to the many feeders that they placed around their home. They also enjoyed taking their motorhome to outdoor concerts and car shows. In retirement, she and Mike took up traveling to new places, one of them being France on a Viking River Cruise.

Annette was a treasure, a precious daughter, a devoted wife, a faithful sister, a loving and fun auntie, and a true friend. She left us with many joyous and wonderful memories that we will cherish forever. Annette is survived by Patrick (Camilla) Carraher and their children, Malia (Tony) Listella and their children, siblings Maryann Nogle Cruickshank, Gene (Sandy) Bauman, Regina Dunroven, Susan Beck, John (Marcy) Bauman, William (Laura) Bauman, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Kathleen and Kerry (Jim) Engbarth and Terrance Carraher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; parents, James and Loretta Bauman; brothers, James Bauman and Robert Bauman; brother-in-law, Randy Beck; in-laws, Eugene and Carol Carraher; and sister-in-law, Margaret.
