Barbara Jane Young

Barbara Jane Young of Coeur D Alene, Idaho, died peacefully on April 13, 2024 with family by her side at the age of 83.

Barbara was born September 25, 1940, in San Fransisco, California, to John and June Keating. She met the love of her life  in her first year of college, David Young Sr. and married on July 18, 1959. They spent 65 plus years together. They moved  to Modesto, California and together had three children. She worked for the Modesto School District for 19 years as a  librarian. In 2004 Barbara and her husband, David, moved to Coeur d’Alene Idaho to be closer to family.

Barbara enjoyed reading, music, camping, boating and traveling. Together with her husband, David, they traveled all over  the United States and Europe. Cruises were their favorite thing to do. She was an animal lover, and a dog was always a  part of the family. They named their Yorkshire Terrier “Gypsie” the traveling dog who often traveled with them on motorhome and boating trips. Barbara enjoyed getting together with family, especially during the holidays. She will be missed.

Barbara is survived by her husband, David Young Sr., two daughters, Penny (Mark) Rocha and Lynda (Keith) Klopatek, and  her son, David Young Jr. She is also survived by her brother, Dan (Josephine) Keating, one nephew, one niece, six  grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Barbara’s family would like to thank the caregivers & staff at Creekside Memory Care and Auburn Crest Hospice for the loving and compassionate care Barbara received.

A celebration of life gathering with close family and friends will be announced in the future.
