Brian G. Maloney, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away surrounded by his family on October 25, 2025, in Hayden, Idaho, at the age of 89. Born on March 11, 1936, the last of the eight children of Mary (née Lynch) and Major Leonard J. Maloney, Brian grew up in Milford, Connecticut, where he met and married Rosemary Sabin. He always said it was the smartest thing he had ever done, and it began an adventure that would last 63 years, with each claiming that the other had gotten the better end of the bargain. They were inseparable, and they were together until the last moment.
In 1962, Brian joined the Connecticut State Police, serving as a Trooper before rising through the ranks to Detective. He was personally recruited by New Haven State's Attorney Arnold Markle into the Justice Department in 1973, where he served as an Inspector. After retiring in 1986, Brian turned his woodworking gift into a successful remodeling and construction business, which he continued until he and Rosemary decided to move to Idaho in 2016 to be closer to their family.
The memory of Brian's quick wit and ready laughter lives on in those who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife, Brian is survived by their son Dan and his wife Patty, of Coeur d'Alene, along with their children Liz, her husband Wayne, and his son Jace, Tom and his fiancée Clara, and Maggie; their son Tim and his wife Krista, of Bishop, California, along with their children Brodie and Delilah; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings.
Arrangements are at the convenience of the family, who would also like to thank Hayden Place Assisted Living and Auburn Crest Hospice for their incredible devotion to Brian's care for the last two years.
