Carol Ann Nelson

Carol Ann Nelson passed away at 84 years old on May 4^th, 2024, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born on December 28^th, 1939, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to Mona and Earl Stuebing. She was the sister to two brothers, Wayne Earl, and Ronald (Ronnie) Charles Stuebing. 

Carol attended schools in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada, and received her RN Nursing Degree from Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto. While working as a nurse in Hawaii, Carol met a sailor, Curtis Nelson, from Coeur d’Alene who was stationed at Pearl Harbor Naval Base. Curt and Carol were married in Hawaii on August 24, 1962. They soon added four children to their family – David, Selina, and twins Craig and Glenn. 

While raising a family, Carol was able to continue her nursing at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, Idaho, as Curt attended graduate school in physics at the University of Idaho and taught high school in Moscow. After moving back to Coeur d’Alene, she worked at Kootenai Health. As a part-time nurse, Carol enjoyed time with family. 

Carol loved being around children. She was a member of the board who started the nursery at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene and later worked with Kid’s Club as a volunteer. Carol enjoyed 4-H with her children and stepped forward as a rabbit project leader. She was fond of attending the 4-H meetings, camping at the fair, and working with her children’s animals. 

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mona Stuebing and her brothers Ronnie and Wayne. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Curt Nelson, and four children – David (Debbie) Nelson, Selina (Art) Helbling, Craig (Holly) Nelson, and Glenn (Julie) Nelson all of Coeur d’Alene. Her seven grandchildren are Jeff Nelson, Cody Helbling, Seth Helbling, Wyatt Nelson, Haley Nelson, Hunter Nelson, and Carter Nelson. Her three great grandchildren are Giovanni Nelson, Mickinley & Hudson Helbling. 

The Funeral Service will be held on May 25^th at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church on 812 N. 5^th Street in Coeur d’Alene.
