Catherine Franzluebbers

Miss Catherine C. Franzluebbers , 92, passed away Tuesday June 22, 2021. Catherine was born on September 30, 1928, in near West Point, Nebraska to George and Frances Franzluebbers. Her parents were farmers. She finished school through the eighth grade.

Miss Franzluebbers came into the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area in 1972, to be of service to our CMRI Traditional Roman Catholic Community.  She has been of service; cooking & housekeeping for our Clergy and Religious, as well as house mother for the girl boarders that would come from afar to attend our Catholic schools.  Being devoted to her labors, always so very willing to take on as many tasks as were needed, serving cheerfully and in a timely manner, she became a favorite person to seek out for most any needed project.

She died a most “holy and happy” death, clutching her Crucifix, wearing her Brown Scapular, The Holy Rosary being prayed in her room 24/7 for a number of days  ~ ~  Having the Prayers and Litany of the Dying, being offered by Father Mary Benedict, CMRI only 3 days preceding her death.

Catherine enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo, and crocheting. For travel experience, she went back to Nebraska for family reunions. She loved old time music. She liked to watch Lucy and Desi shows and old TV programs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Herman, Bernard, John and Fred, her sisters Josephine Kampschnieder and Caroline Kampschnieder, brothers-in-law Rudy Kampschnieder, Clarence Kampschnieder, Wilfred Steffensmeier, Ignatius Gentrup and sister-in-law Catherine Franzluebbers.

Catherine is survived by her sisters, Ann Steffensmeier of Norfolk, Sister M Georgiana and Sister M Frances of Colorado Springs, CO and Rose Gentrup of West Point, NE; sisters-in-law Lillian Franzluebbers of Dodge and Margaret Franzluebbers of West Point.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and the many dear friends, who watched over her and loved her like family.
