Charles W. Tatter, Jr., 75, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away on January 13th from heart related issues.
Charles was born on October 18, 1948 to Charles and Jessie Tatter in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from Homewood Flossmore High School, he went on to study at Wheaton College.
After graduation, served in the Army in communications. He later became an accountant for Birnbrey, Minsk, and Minsk in Atlanta, Georgia until his retirement.
In 1988, he met Margie (Allshouse) Tatter, and they wed in 1989. At marriage, their one child, Amy (Galloway) Biggs, became his step daughter.
Charles was an avid train enthusiast and could frequently be found planning his model train layouts in his spare time. He also loved attending his two Bible studies with “the old guys.” When not doing these things, Charles would spend time volunteering for a handful of organizations, including Companions Animal Center, the Kroc Center Coeur d'Alene , and Kootenai Health.
Charles truly believed in community, service to that community, and connecting to others through time well spent. He believed our world could be improved if everyone simply dedicated a little bit of their time towards serving others.
Charles is predeceased by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his step daughter and son-in-law Amy and James Biggs; his sisters, Martha Banevich, Barbara Dreibelbis, and Karen Beckmann; his brother Bill Tatter; and his three grandchildren, Nathan, Greg, and Tim.
In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations be made to any of the organizations Charles volunteered for including (all in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) Companions Animal Center, the Kroc Center, and Children's Village. No memorial service has been planned.
