November 10, 1964 — June 14, 2023

Christine E. Jones

On the morning of June 14, 2023, Christine Elaine (Farrar Sullivan) Jones of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away after a courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer.  She was 58 years old.

Christine was born November 10, 1964 in Lewistown, Montana, to Kathleen Ann Hanzlik.  Her mother was a civil servant for the United States Air Force.  Due to her mother’s work, throughout her childhood Christine was able to experience life in different places, including Tokyo, Japan, Glasgow Air Force Base in Montana, and Opheim, before settling in Great Falls, Montana, in 1979.  She graduated from Great Falls High School in 1983, and attended Montana State University from 1983 to 1985.  In 1985 she married Timothy Sullivan and moved to Vandenberg Air Force Base in California where her son Justin was born in 1986.  She then moved to Whittier, California, where her daughter Shannon was born in 1987.  In 1992, she and her family moved to Post Falls, Idaho, the community she would call home for the remainder of her life.  Although her marriage to Timothy ended in 1995, Christine’s heart remained open to love.  On November 5, 1999, she married Aaron Jones, whom she shared many beautiful years with.  In November 2006, she was hired by the Post Falls Police Department as a Crime Victim Advocate in the Victim Services Unit.  She served her role with conviction and compassion, making a significant positive impact on the lives of those she supported.  Her genuine love for children shone through her work and in her role as an educator, where she taught important lessons about healthy relationships to elementary school children.  Wanting to better serve her clients, in 2019 Christine enrolled at Grand Canyon University to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.  She received multiple awards for her service during her tenure with the police department, most recently receiving the Court Appointed Special Advocates Distinguished Service in Victims Advocacy Award in 2022.

Christine’s kindness and generous spirit extended beyond her professional life.  She was an ardent volunteer, devoting her time and skills as a Girl Scout Troop and Service Unit Leader, as well as to organizations such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue Auxiliary, and local law enforcement’s Holidays & Heroes.  She particularly loved volunteering with children.  She enjoyed spending time outdoors working in the yard, especially in her vegetable garden and budding Christmas tree farm.  Even though she disliked sand, her favorite place to visit was the ocean, particularly the Oregon Coast, where she enjoyed annual visits with her husband and children.  Christine enjoyed attending concerts of her favorite musicians, seeing Bob Dylan and The Eagles perform numerous times.  She found joy in reading, crafts – particularly cross-stitch, as well as making salsas and jams with produce from her garden.  She delighted in hosting visits with her family, especially summertime events with her nieces and their children.  She was a dedicated dog mom throughout the years, and made a point to spoil her grand-dogs.  She loved turtles, George Clooney, and always had a ready supply of silly jokes to brighten anyone’s day.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother and father Kathleen and Larry Anderson, as well as her mother and father-in-law Gail and Lawrence Jones, and her sister-in-law JoAnne Seher.

Christine is survived by ger husband Aaron Jones, son Justin (Kayla) Sullivan, and daughter Shannon Sullivan (Brandon Dayton); sisters Denise (Duke) Forbes-Kegel, Theresa Farrar (Keith Carlson), and Linda Arioso; niece Annette (Aaron) Collins and their children Malachi, Adam, Alayla, Joseph, and Alex; niece Jessica (Jake) Mikek and their children Emma, Lyla, Naomi, and Isabelle; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Christine’s warm smile, genuine kindness, and compassionate spirit touched the lives of many.  She will be remembered for her resolute strength, her ability to find humor in every moment, and her unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community.

A public memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 4:00 pm at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, Idaho.
