Connie Jean Salsbury

Connie Jean Crowell Salsbury was born Sept. 28, 1954, and lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer on Jan. 22, 2023.

Connie was raised and educated in Washington state. She moved to Idaho with her brother in 1974.  She lived in Idaho for the remainder of her life.  She worked at Kootenai Medical Center for 34 of those years, first in housekeeping and then as a CNA.

Connie retired in 2020, planning on gardening and playing with her pets.
Breast cancer first touched her in 2010. She recovered from surgery and chemotherapy and lived cancer free for eight years.  In 2018 cancer was discovered in her lungs.  Chemotherapy again rid her of the disease, but it showed up again in her spine in 2020.  Again they treated it and for several months we thought she had it licked. But back it came in 2022, this time in her brain. This she simply couldn’t survive.

We are thankful to the staff at Kootenai Medical Center for all they did for her.  Their compassion and professionalism certainly made it easier for our family to deal with this disease.  Also, a huge thanks we send out to Hospice of North Idaho.  You took away some of our anxiety over the inevitable end and made it easier to just love her.

Connie is survived by her children, Sam and Jenny, her sister, Marcia Burnett and family, Moses Lake, WA,  sister-in-law, Shannon Crowell, Eltopia, WA., and many cousins and friends.  We will have a family gathering in the Spring.
