Dan (or Danny) was born in Glendale, CA. to Virginia and Peter S. Dahl. The family moved to Moses Lake, Wa., in 1955. After high school, Dan earned a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at WSU. Dan practiced in Eugene, OR,, and Potlatch, ID., before settling in Spokane and opening Associated Veterinary Group. After many successful years in private practice, he accepted the position of Equine Medical Director at Playfair Race Track in Spokane and later at Emerald Downs in Auburn, WA. After eight years in Auburn, he, along with his wife of 39 years,Judy,moved back to the Inland Northwest where he worked for the WSDA as a Food Inspector until retirement.
Dan was a devout hockey fan who, along with Judy, billeted numerous Spokane Chief players and fostered his grandson's hockey career. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf and was a talented gardener.
Dan was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leif. He is survived by his wife, Judy; sister, Cheryl Burt; sons, Curt LaZelle (Elaine); Kory LaZelle (Amber); daughter, Keli Willard (Ernie); sister-in-law, Carol Dahl; grandson, Chase LaZelle (Edna); granddaughters, Bailey LaZelle; Rachael LaZelle (Skyler); great grandsons, Greyson LaZelle and Charlie LaZelle; nephews, Pete Otholt (Sharon), neices, Amber and Ashley, nephew, James; nephew,Thor Dahl (Emily); niece Kristin Dahl; Sister-in-law Debbie Troy (Tom); niece, Jamie Williams (Josh); brother-in-law, Jeff Scoville, niece, Melissa Scoville, niece, Kim Cantu (Ernie), niece, Denni Case (Robbie).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Institution or WSU Veterinary School.
