David Allen Schaible ("Dave"), age 75, of Dalton Gardens, ID, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2026, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House. Dave was born on January 29, 1951, in Moorhead, MN, to Ruben Henry Schaible and Joyce Iona Roozen Schaible.
Dave graduated from high school in 1969 before joining the U.S. Army, where he proudly served for four years. In 1980, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and faithfully served as an Aviation Maintenance Administrator until his retirement in 1996.
Dave had a true green thumb and loved gardening. He was always proud to share the fruits—and vegetables—of his labor with family, friends, and neighbors. He also loved hunting and fishing and spent as much time outdoors as he could. Some of his greatest joys came from spending time with his five grandchildren, teaching them practical skills and creating memories they will cherish forever.
Dave was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord deeply. He was baptized in the Jordan River and never hesitated to share his faith. Whether with family, friends, or a stranger, he was always willing to sit down and talk about Scripture and the hope he found in Christ.
Dave married Feliciana “Fely” Valenzuela in 1982, and together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. He is survived by his beloved wife, Fely; his daughter, KC (Josh) Spicer of Liberty Lake, WA; his son, Brad (Nicole) Schaible of Post Falls, ID; and his five grandchildren: Rian Schaible, Gracelyn Schaible, Bronson Schaible, Jacob Spicer, and Josie Spicer. He is also survived by his siblings: Darlene Broughton (Schaible) of Dundas, MN; Valerie Scott (Schaible) of Frederick, CO; Roland Schaible of Bismarck, ND; Lee Ann Messer (Schaible) of Mott, ND; and along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Schaible and Joyce Roozen; his brother, Rick Schaible; and his sister, Becky Wentler (Schaible).
A funeral service will be held at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026. A memorial gathering celebrating Dave's life will be held at his home at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of North Idaho.
Until we meet again, Dad. We love you and look forward to the day we are reunited in the presence of our Savior.
