Our hearts are heavy today as we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Deborah Mel Hagen. Her light shined brightly and beautifully, and the world is better for having had her a part of it. So, although we are mourning, we are also filled with immense gratitude for our time with her.
Deborah Mel Hagen was born on August 24, 1950 in Puyallup, WA. She left this world on May 27, 2021 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She lives on through her children Dori Responts, Patty Anselmo, and Summer Frank. She's also a cherished grandma to seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Debby is also survived by her brother Dale Hinman and sister Donna Edwards. She was preceded in death by her father Dorwin Hinman, mother Doris LaPoma, and husband David Hagen.
A graduate of Puyallup High School and the North Idaho College Nursing Program, Debby dedicated her life to helping others. Whether it was through her 15-year career as an insurance broker or her decade-long career as a nurse, she touched many lives.
Caring for her grandchildren brought a smile to her face, just as she brought a smile to others. Debby loved making Idaho her home and was a big sports fan of all the great Pacific Northwest teams. She loved the Seahawks and the Mariners, but it was the Zags who really had her heart. She never missed a game and will no doubt be cheering them on from afar.
Debby will be deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Please remember her fondly as we say a difficult goodbye. Although there are many tears falling from our eyes, it's our memories of her that will forever keep her alive.
