On Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, Debra Diane Jones passed away after a three week battle at Kootenai Health due to heart failure.

Debra was born on May 15, 1954, to Donald L. Schmidt and Vernetta M. (Hayes) Schmidt in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

She grew up in Coeur d'Alene along with her older brother Ron Schmidt. Debra graduated from Coeur d'Alene high school with the class of 1972. She started her college education at North Idaho College and graduated with a bachelor's in elementary education from University of Idaho in 1976.

She met the love of her life Duane Jones in the summer of 1973, thanks to a blind date set up by mutual friends. Debra and Duane Jones got married on Dec. 30, 1976.

She started her working career as an elementary substitute teacher and as an aide in the resource room. She also worked several years in retail. Debra and Duane were blessed with the birth of their son Travis Jones in 1990. After the birth of their son Debra became a homemaker.

She enjoyed crafts, baking, gardening and spending time with her two grandchildren Lillian, and Zachary.

She is survived by her loving husband Duane, son Travis and his significant other Tia Hoard and their two children Lillian and Zachary. She is also survived by her brother Ron, his children and grandchildren. And a host of friends.

Graveside celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 27, 2021, at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene In lieu of flowers Debra's family requests you make a donation to Hospice of North Idaho.
