Del was born in Fresno California to Opal and Cecil Jaquish. He grew up in the Fresno and Sanger California areas, graduating from Sanger High School in 1947. He attended Reedley College in Reedley California and then obtained his degree in Forestry from the University of Idaho in 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955.
After retiring from a successful 33-year career with the United States Forest Service, Del and his wife Beverly moved to the Post Falls, Idaho area in 1985. He continued to share his love of meeting new people and his expertise of the forest industry by working as a bus driver, as the City Forester for Post Falls Idaho, and then with the Community Forestry Program of the Idaho Department of Lands. Del enjoyed spending time with family and friends, Lay Speaking with his church community, photography, woodworking, fishing, and singing.
Del is survived by four daughters, a son, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores, in 1971 and his second wife, Beverly, in 2019.
A Celebration of Life will be held at House of Faith Wesleyan Church, 1103 N. 3rd Street, Coeur d’ Alene, ID on May 8, 2021, at 1:00 pm. Masks will be required. The family requests no flowers. Memorial donations may be made to House of Faith Church or to the City of Post Falls designated to the Tree Trust Fund.
