Douglas Ray Kircher

Douglas Ray Kircher was born July 14, 1961 in Spokane WA, to Bennie and Carol Kircher. When Doug was 4 the family moved to the Spokane Valley where Doug attended Broadway Elementary, North Pines Junior High and University High School.  He played football and ran track, graduating in 1981, before attending the University of Idaho where he continued his football career.   He started working for Zip Trip in Moscow while at college and continued working for the company for 40 years.  He got a degree in human resources and was the Zip Trip HR director for his last 20 years with the company before retiring in 2021.

Weekends and most family vacations were spent at Kidd Island Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene swimming, waterskiing and hauling rocks.  There were lots of rocks to move in creating a beach, retaining walls and preparing for building.  The joke was that before every meal you had to haul so many rocks.  He was part of the rock hauling crew from an early age and continued the tradition when he built his own house on the lake.  He enjoyed living on Lake Coeur d’Alene with his wife Karen of 31 years, where they raised their 2 daughters. His passion was hunting and spending time in the Clearwater where he worked with his dad to build the family cabin. He hunted with his family and they would often snowmobile into the cabin in the winter. For the last 10 years he spent most of his vacation time building his own place in the Clearwater and helping his buddy, Russ, build his place at Donkey Creek.

Doug passed peacefully at home surrounded by family after an eight year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Karen; daughters Mariah Robinett (Cameron) and Rachel Kircher; grandchildren James Robinett, Mollie Robinett, and coming soon Kayson Kohn; sister Cheri Gorder (John). Doug was greeted in heaven by his parents and we are sure they are swapping hunting stories.

A celebration of Life will be held May 21, 2023 at Lake City Center in Coeur d’Alene from 2-5pm.  All who knew and loved Doug are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made for cancer research at American Cancer Society,  https://donate.cancer.org or Hospice of North Idaho, https://www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org/donate/
