Edward Eugene Slusher of Rathdrum ID was born December 12, 1934 in Coffeyville KS to Ernest Leroy and Roma Catherine Slusher. Ed went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2021.
When Ed was a young boy, the family moved to Kellogg ID. Ed graduated from Kellogg High School in 1952. He went to work as a carpenter’s apprentice at the Bunker Hill Mine.
In 1959, Ed met Betty Voyles, coming out of the door of the Kellogg Lutheran Church, and then the fireworks began!!!
Ed worked for a number of different companies including the Bunker Hill Mine, Sverdsten Logging, Shoshone Fire Dept., Total Textile, Lakeland School District and others, in several skills.
Ed was called by Jesus to be His child in 1960.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Roy & Roma Slusher, brothers Robert & Everett, and a sister Catherine.
Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty, at their home in Rathdrum ID, 3 daughters and sons-in-law; Kelsey and Larry Ayala of Green Valley AZ; Lenora and Greg Meshew of Twin Lakes ID; Lisa and Joel Beaudin of Missoula MT, 5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren (with 1 more on the way); a sister, Doris Bennett of Pinehurst ID, sister-in-law Joan Slusher, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed served in his church, first in Pinehurst ID at Our Savior Lutheran Church and later at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Rathdrum ID, teaching Sunday School, Bible studies, and leading youth group. Ed and Betty were very involved in Marriage Encounter as a presenting couple at Marriage Encounter weekends.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Ed on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Rathdrum ID.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ed's name to The Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church Morgage, 13541 W Hwy 53, Rathdrum, ID 83858.
