Liz Carneiro

Our Beloved Elizabeth "Liz" Jane Carneiro passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones on Saturday March 7th, 2020 in Coeur d' Alene, ID at the age of 76.  She has resided in Coeur d' Alene for the last 49 years.

Liz was born on January 9th, 1944 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Alfred and Frances (Folk) Kurtzbein.  Liz was the sixth of seven children.  She adored being a part of a big family and lending a hand to tend to the animals and her father's honey bees.  Some of the best recipes ever were handed down to her from her mom.  She had graduated school in Minnesota and later married.  Her first child Lori was then born.  A few years later settling in on a property and acquiring horses in the Lewiston-Clarkston area, she loved to ride her horse named Velvet.  Her second child, Beth was born there.  In 1971 a job transfer moved the family to Coeur d' Alene, ID where her third child J.D. was born.

Liz worked in the hospitality industry most of her years and enjoyed the camaraderie with the patrons and her co-workers at the fine dining establishments in Coeur d' Alene and the surrounding areas, making many lasting friendships along the way.  Liz loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, and gardening were among her favorites.  She divorced and later remarried to Ted Carneiro and lived in Dalton Gardens where their first child, Kelli, was born.

In August of 2011 Liz suffered a stroke leaving her needing some assistance.  She had a wonderful apartment at Legends Park getting the support she needed and all the Bingo and Poker games she could play.  She also developed a strong love of Hershey's bars!  She gave her whole heart to her family and couldn't wait for the next visit, get together or holiday gathering.  She kept in close contact with her family and we will miss her beyond measure, forever holding her close to our hearts and thoughts.

She is survived by daughters, Lori J. Barker (Jack), Kelli A. Carneiro and son John D. "J.D." Krum.  Sisters, Diane Wadsworth (Allen) of Spencer, IA and Karen Matthews of Walla Walla, WA. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. 12  grandchildren; Michael Campagna, Jessica O' Brien, Haylee Krum, Mackenzee Krum,  Kyler Carneiro, Shelby Carneiro, Chase Russell, Morgan KIawitter, Bailey Klawitter, Shelby Barker, Ryan Barker, and Kymberlee Barker.  8 Great-Grandchildren, Lance Campagna, Kennedy Campagna, Amber O' Brien, Ashlynn O' Brien, Allison "Ali" O'Brien, Aliyah Cortez, Amelia Collins and Adelynn Collins.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Beth M. Krum, sister Ardell Collins, brothers Robert Kurtzbein, Al Kurtzbein and Jack Kurtzbein.

The family extends a special thank you to Hospice of North Idaho and Legends Park for their dedication, efforts and extraordinary care to her and to our family during this difficult time of loss.  Liz has requested no services be held.  A Celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date in Coeur d' Alene.  Thank you all from her loving family for the overwhelming support and condolences.

English Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the final arrangements.  Please send any donations to Hospice of North Idaho: www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org or 2290 W. Prairie Ave. Coeur d' Alene, ID 83815
