Ellen Rose Marlatt

Ellen Rose Marlatt, 67, of Hayden, ID passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023.

Ellen, daughter of Frank W. Brown and Dorothy M. (Gerlach) Brown, was born on October 2, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas. As a child she moved all over the world with her parents and siblings due to her fathers’ military service. On May 17^th, 1969, Ellen was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her love of her Savior and the gospel was the anchor point of her life. She has always been known for her soft spot for animals, her creativity and love of all things craft, as well as her ability to sew basically anything.

Ellen graduated from Alamogordo High School in Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1974. She then married the love of her life, Steven W. Marlatt, May 31, 1974. They moved from New Mexico to Idaho, where Ellen lived out her life. They would go on to have four amazing children: three daughters and a son. Throughout her life, Ellen showcased her many talents including making wedding cakes, quilting, floral arrangements and sewing costumes for the local dance company. Her family will always think of her fondly when they gaze upon her beautiful flowers. As she moved into later life her, she became an avid quilter. One of her joys was quilting with the Prairie Chix Quilting Group. Ellen was always willing to help others. She demonstrated this by serving for 17 years as a worker, with her husband, in both the Spokane, Washington and Lubbock, Texas LDS Temples.

Ellen was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Her joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents (Frank and Dorothy Brown) and brother (Dennis Brown). She is survived by her husband Steven; children, Stacie (Marcus), Jan (Nicholaus), Delanie (Jason), Wayne (Anna); her 15 grandchildren and her sister Josephine Kennedy-Duvall.

Services will be held this Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel on 2293 W. Hanley Ave, Coeur d’Alene, ID. The viewing will be from 9:00 am – 9:45 am, with the services beginning at 10:00 am.
