Erica Elizabeth Harnes, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter,
and friend, passed away on May 5, 2023, at age 37, after a battle
with cervical cancer. Throughout her fight she had the
unconditional love and support of her family and friends.
Erica was born in Santa Maria, California and lived in several states
throughout her life, most notably Oregon, where she graduated
from McMinnville High School and Phagans Beauty College, as
well as Mississippi, Florida and Idaho. She inherited her mother’s
incredible bartending skills and worked mainly in the
service/hospitality industry, making her customers her friends
wherever she served.
Erica’s first love was her family and no matter the distance she
never missed an opportunity to be with them. She loved to travel
and was always available for a Christmas surprise, birthday bash or
a just-because rendezvous at the beach. She made every occasion
brighter by being there and was a treasure to her parents and
sister, whom she fiercely loved. She also delighted in her niece and
nephew and proudly bragged about them to anyone with ears.
In her all too short time on this earth, Erica made and maintained
friendships that provided her with an extended family from coast
to coast. She collected the heart of anyone lucky enough to know
her and was a loyal and true friend in good times and bad. Her
ride-or-die girlfriends were her backbone and she cherished them
to the end. In addition to her human friends, Erica never met a dog
she didn’t love, and her babies Isabella, Yawnie, Stella and Lexi,
lived close in her heart every day of her life.
Erica is survived by her parents, Rick (Danine) Harnes of Coeur
d’Alene, Idaho; Keely (Brad) Pearce, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; a
sister Candice (Dave) Steele, along with her nephew and niece,
Corbin and Adrianna, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; her grandfather
Richard Harnes of Rathdrum, Idaho; her grandmother Loretta
Bonjour of San Luis Obispo, California; her grandmother Jan Stone,
of Arroyo Grande, California, several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
more beloved friends than we could name.
In honor of her life, donations may be made in her name to
Hospice of North Idaho. Her family would like to specifically
recognize and thank all the staff of that incredible organization for
the compassion and care they showed us and Erica in her final
weeks.
