George E. France

July 1, 1925 – November 4, 2021 (age 96)

George E. France passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on November 4, 2021 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  George was born in Riceville, Iowa to Arthur and Blanche (Carstensen) France. Moving to California with his parents and older brother, he attended Inglewood High School and joined the United States Navy before finishing high school.  He was a proud World War II Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre.

He married Llewellyn Eikamp in 1947 and they shared 68 years together.  Together they raised two daughters and numerous pets in the San Fernando Valley, California.  He retired from Lockheed Aircraft in 1980 and spent his retirement years working in his garden, helping church family and neighbors, and was often working on or completing home projects for his family or friends.  They settled in Post Falls in 1997 to be closer to their daughter Jo Anne and her family.

After his first wife passed away in 2015, he married a lovely lady he met at church.  Joan (Kirsch) was the light of his life for the past five years.  They could often be seen holding hands and just enjoyed being together.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Blanche and his brother William.  He is survived by his wife Joan, his eldest daughter Mary Marr and her daughter and grandsons.  Also survived by his youngest daughter Jo Anne (Jon) DeKeles and grandson Bryan (Rachel) DeKeles and great-grandson Gavin. He is also survived by his three nieces and their families.

George’s final resting place will be at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.

A memorial service honoring George will be at a later date.
