Obituary:

Hazel Mari Mitchell was born on July 7, 1981, and passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 in Post Falls, Idaho. Hazel died of a rare and aggressive pulmonary disease. She was 40 years old.

Hazel met the love of her life, Kevin Owens, in 2007 while working in Phoenix, Arizona.  They were married on November 25, 2008 in Lake Worth, Texas.  Hazel and Kevin resided in Fort Worth, Texas and Lewisville, Texas for eleven years until they moved back to Hazel’s home state of Idaho in 2019.  Hazel worked in the reprographics business for most of her career.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, road trips with Kevin, hanging out with family, and spending time with her cat “Huggybear”.  Hazel was adventurous and always ready to have fun, even after being stricken by illness.  In spite of life’s difficulties, Hazel was always brave and upbeat.  She was admired for her positive attitude and kindness to others.  Her smile, quick wit, and unique sense of humor will be missed.

Hazel is preceded in death by her father, Harold “Hal” Melvin Mitchell.

Hazel is survived by her husband - Kevin Owens, father-in-law - Larry Owens, mother-in-law - Sherry Owens, brother–in-law - Scott Owens and wife Kathy, sister–in-law - Laura Owens Saffle, mother - Sharon L. Hildesheim, step-mother - Darlene Stott, sister - Randilynn Stott, brother – Jamie Stott, sister - Janetta Cunningham, brother - Shawn Hildesheim, brother - Sam Mitchell, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and grandparents.

There will be a Memorial Service for family and friends on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm. at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, Idaho 83854.  The service will also be live streamed on Facebook and video will be made available on the English Funeral Chapel website at a later date.
