HELEN ROSE SEASTEDT, 99

Helen Rose Seastedt, age 99, of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho passed away peacefully on December 12,

2020 at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho with family by her side. Helen was a

kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She and her husband, Arnold

Seastedt, were married for 68 years. Arnie passed away in 2018. Helen is survived by her four

daughters, Sharon Lilyquist (Craig), Karon Brown (Keith), Carol Fundanet (Dragan) and Barbara

Griffith (Mike); along with grandsons, Kevin, Mel (Lisa) and Nicholas (Sarah) and greatgrandchildren,

Melia, Kayia, Macie and Trent.

Helen was born to William and Mary Bausch on August 1, 1921 in Sibley, Iowa. She grew up

and graduated from high school in Ashton, a small farm town in northwestern Iowa. After

graduation she moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked as a legal secretary and where she

met Arnie. Proceeding her in death were four older brothers, Thomas Bausch, Norbert Bausch

(Jane), Paul Bausch (Mary) and Mark Bausch (Connie). Helen had many nieces and nephews

and always enjoyed hearing from them. The Bausch family nicknamed her “Auntie Mac.”

Helen was a homemaker, who loved gardening and visiting with her neighbors and friends.

Helen and Arnie made the best homemade zucchini salsa from their garden. They also enjoyed

all the family traditions on the holidays, especially the lutefisk, lefse and potato sausage at

Christmas. Helen liked following politics and having lively discussions about the news. After

retirement, Helen and Arnie had many memorable road trips to California, Arizona, Nebraska

and Minnesota to visit with friends and relatives. For many years, Helen and Arnie owned Pine

Haven Resort near Longville, Minnesota. Shortly after selling the resort, they lived in San Diego

for ten years and then moved to Idaho to be close to family. She was a long-standing member of

the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Helen and Arnie were members of St. Pius X Catholic Church in

Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

There will be a memorial service for Helen and Arnie at the Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake,

Washington at a later date. Although Helen and Arnie will be missed by their family and friends,

we will all remember the special times and moments we had with them and always cherish their

memories. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Honeysuckle Senior Living and

Schneidmiller Hospice House for taking such good care of our mother. English Funeral Chapel

in Coeur d’Alene is entrusted with the final arrangements.
