Irene Innocenzi Pacella

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Innocenzi Pacella on January 5, 2023 at Kootenai Medical Hospital in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Irene was born on January 12, 1934 in Lowellville, Ohio, to Ercole Innocenzi and Fanesia Nardis Innocenzi.

She graduated from Lowellville High School class of 1953 and received her bachelors degree in education from Youngstown State University, formerly known as Youngstown College  and later became Youngstown University while she was still a student.

Irene was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family. She married Joseph Pacella of Youngstown, Ohio in 1956, and together they had three daughters and one son.

Irene was a school teacher for over 40 years.   Her job was her passion. She dreamed of being a teacher from the time she was a young girl.

Irene had many interests and passions. She was a gifted wordsmith and enjoyed writing poetry for her family and friends. She also loved to play bingo, cards, and Rummikub.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, her brother Frank Innocenzi, her sister Agatha Kate Marshall, her husband Joseph and her son Craig Pacella. Despite these losses, Irene remained a resilient and loving person to all those around her, and she never lost her strong faith in God. Her memory will be cherished by her daughters,   grandchildren,   great-grandchildren, and many friends.

Irene is survived by her three daughters, Karen Pacella of Battlecreek, Michigan, Cynthia Melgaard of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Lori Romano of Lake Forest, California. Irene was also blessed with nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

At the time of her passing, Irene was living in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with her daughter Cynthia. Irene will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Our condolences go to her family and friends who feel this loss. May she rest in peace.

A celebration of life will be held in April 2023 in California.  She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange Ca. beside her husband Joseph and their son Craig.

Irene was an advocate and supporter for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and her local women’s shelter.
