Jim Zeorlin, 88, born in Spokane WA to Ralph and Lois Zeorlin on August 23, 1937, passed away and went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on February 7, 2026 after a brief illness. Jim lived a full and vibrant life, most recently at the Brookdale Independent Living Community in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He never met a stranger. Or a dog that he wouldn’t roll on the ground with. He loved to tell stories and if you couldn’t reach something on the shelf at the grocery store, he would jump right in and help. He also helped with other residents at Brookdale, would pick things up at the store for them or escort people down and back from meals. He always offered a smile and a kind word to everyone he encountered.
Family was important to Jim and he was proud of and loved his children and their spouses, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He encouraged them to follow their dreams in whatever they wanted to achieve.
Preceded in death by his son, James Robert Zeorlin, (Jimmy), Jim leaves 7 daughters, their spouses, 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Jim began service as a Marine Reserve on November 23, 1954, at the age of 17. He continued to serve as a reserve until November 22, 1962. He entered the service with 2 of his best friends, Bob Sturdevant and Jim Casey, who both also preceded him in death. Jim was very proud of his service to his country.
Jim was a born salesman and supported his family through those skills his whole life, with the majority of his career being spent in the wholesale paper products industry in Tacoma WA and Kent, WA where he is still remembered and respected.
Jim became very involved with Habitat for Humanity in Tacoma. He volunteered for years, even having the honor of working with President Jimmy Carter one day. He later joined Habitat for Humanity in Tacoma as an employee and worked with purchasing. Through his efforts he suggested changes that led to a savings of 20% on the cost of each house that was built. After moving to Mena, AR, Jim continued to volunteer his home building experience after a tornado went through town and caused major damage to many homes. Those efforts were aided with the help of several church groups.
Jim was a man of strong faith and found comfort in reading his bible daily, even creating a schedule to read the entire bible each year. He had a personal mission to pray with women who were pregnant for the health and safety of their children.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Jim on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the English Funeral Chapel, located at 1133 North 4th Street, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814, with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made in his name either to your local Habitat for Humanity or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, causes he believed in and supported.
