Jay Walsted

Jay Christian Walsted of Post Falls, ID was called Home on November 6, 2021.  Jay was born in Great Falls, MT on March 31, 1935 to John and Ivy Walsted.

Jay was raised and educated in Great Falls and Dutton, MT.  After graduation he worked for many years at the Dutton Café, making numerous friends.

After moving to Coeur d’ Alene, ID in 1976, he began his new career at The Iron Horse Restaurant, where he too made friends and great memories.

Jay was a loving, kind, gentle soul who touched many hearts during his 86 years of life.  He adored his pets, loved crafting and giving those crafts to friends and family.

He also enjoyed bike riding, old western movies, gardening, playing pinochle and bingo just to name a few.  Jay was always there to lend a helping hand and a smile.

Jay resided at the Living Springs Assisted Care facility the last 20 years of his life, in Post Falls where friends/caregivers were turned into family.

Jay is survived by nieces, Sandy (Larry) Klotz of Missoula, MT, Shanna (Mike) Schwartz of Orofino, ID and Ann Hoene of Snohomish, WA.

Nephews Rick Johnson of Dutton, MT, Rod (Cheri) Peightal and Mike Peightal of Spirit Lake, ID and John Eller of Orofino, ID.   Many other great nieces and nephews.

Jay is also survived by his best friend/earth angel Reek Kasum, Post Falls, ID.


He was preceded in death by his father Jay Walsted, his mother Ivy Crawford Isakson and sisters Lavina Peightal, Lee Perin and Floy Eller.

Memorial services and celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on November 13, 2021 at the Living Springs Assisted Care facility.

Cremation has taken place with English Funeral Chapel and interment will be at a later date at the Dutton Cemetery.
