Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and sister, Jearl Juanita Wood, went to be with the Lord and to join her beloved husband, Art, on May 22, 2021 at the Hospice House in Hayden.
Jearl ("Jerri") was born August 8, 1923 near Strickler, Ark. Jerri was the daughter of James Earl Stewart and Ella Mae Faddis. She attended schools in Arkansas and California. She married the love of her life, Arthur "Art" Thomas Wood in Morgan Hill, Calif. on September 7, 1940. Jerri has stated that the moment she laid eyes on him, she knew in her heart that she was going to be spending the rest of her life with him. The two knew each other almost their entire lives, and grew up in the Ozarks of Arkansas.
Jerri was blessed to be able to stay in the home as a homemaker and to raise their 3 children. She loved to spend time with her family, and OH!, how she loved parties - whether they be birthday, anniversary, or holiday dinners. She was an avid quilt-maker and she made sure that everyone in the family (children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren) plus other relatives and friends, received a homemade quilt. She also made and donated her quilts to the Veterans. She also loved to crochet and made many beautiful afghans and bedspreads. She made sure that every new baby that was born to a member of her church received a beautiful crocheted yellow, blue, or pink baby blanket. Jerri also loved to fish all the lakes in the area with her husband.
Jerri was married to Art for 72 years until Art passed away in 2013. They had a beautiful life together, and raised up a wonderful family. Art's job as an FHA appraiser saw them moving all around the northwest. After Art's retirement, Jerri and Art settled in Post Falls, Idaho in 1989.
Jerri was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Post Falls, the Post Falls Historical Society, and a past member of the Post Falls Eagles. She also had been on the Board of Directors for the Youth for Christ organization in Central California.
Jerri is survived by her 3 children; Ron (Sheila) Wood of Pinehurst; Idaho, Diane Holley of Post Falls, Idaho; and Juanita (Ed) Holley of Hot Springs, S.D.; nine grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Thomas (Wanda) Waterson of Turlock, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerri was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ginger Mayfield, one brother, Arthur Waterson, one infant daughter, Virginia Ann Wood, and one great grandson, Brock Wayne Wood.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane Street, Post Falls, Idaho with Pastor Doug Cartwright officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Chapel. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
Jerri will be greatly missed and remembered for her spunk, her giving spirit, and her love of parties and celebrations.
In honor of Jerri's memory, the family suggests that memorials (donations) may be made to the Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, Idaho.
