Jennifer Marquez, a luminous spirit whose life was marked by dedication, love, and a career devoted to protecting the environment, passed away on June 5, 2026, in Coeur D'Alene, succumbing to cancer after a courageous battle. Born on August 13, 1966, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Jennifer grew into a woman whose bright light shone through her infectious smile, loud laugh, and warm, compassionate personality.

In the summer of 1971, Jennifer's family moved from Jacksonville, North Carolina to Oceanside, California when her father was transferred from Marine Corps Air station New River to Marine Corps base Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. While living in Oceanside, Jennifer liked playing outdoors, going to the beach with family and friends and learning how to play the violin. In the summer of 1980 Jennifer's family moved to Coeur d'Alene Idaho when her father retired from the Marine Corps.

Jennifer’s secondary education began in the classrooms of Coeur d'Alene, where she graduated from high school in 1984. Her passion for science and engineering propelled her through North Idaho College and then to the University of Idaho, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1991. From these early foundation years sprang a remarkable 31-year career at the United States Navy, a testament to her steadfast commitment to safeguarding our natural world.

Her professional voyage launched at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Keyport, Washington, where between 1991 and 1997 she served initially as a Chemical Engineer and evolved into an Environmental Engineer, blending expertise with an earnest mission: reducing hazardous waste pollution and pioneering safer alternatives. From 1997 to 2007, Jennifer’s focus on hazardous waste management intensified at the Naval Submarine Base in Bangor, Washington. She then shaped environmental stewardship in the Midwest from 2007 until her retirement in 2022, managing regional programs and projects for the Great Lakes Naval Facilities Command. Her groundbreaking role as the first Asbestos Program Manager at Great Lakes underscored her trailblazing spirit and unwavering dedication to environmental compliance, especially within Marine Corps reserve centers.

Beyond her formidable career, Jennifer was a woman profoundly anchored by faith and family. A devout Christian, she engaged daily with the Bible, drawing strength and guidance that radiated in her every interaction. Her heart was deeply entwined with her loved ones. She was a devoted and loving wife to John Biesiadecki, whom she married in 2015, sharing with him the joy of travel and exploration. Together, they journeyed to enchanting places: the biblical Noah's Ark Replica in KY., the magical realms of Disney World, the vibrant streets of New York and Chicago, the serene coast of Yachats, Oregon, and majestic peaks like Mount Rainier and Mount Hood. Her last trip was to the tropical paradise of Kauai, Hawaii. Each trip bore the imprint of her zest for life and discovery.

Jennifer’s warmth extended to her family, where her support for nieces and nephews in their various endeavors spoke of her nurturing soul. She is survived by her husband, John Biesiadecki; her mother, Jennie Marquez; and sisters Virginia Mesenbrink and Arlene Bodie. Her passing also marks the loss of sibling Pete Marquez and father Pedro Marquez, who preceded her into eternal rest.

In remembrance, Jennifer Marquez’s life is a luminous chapter of brilliance, compassion, and unyielding determination. Her legacy resonates in the cleaner waters, the safer communities, and the hearts of those she cherished. Though cancer claimed her body, the light she ignited within those who knew her remains unstoppable—a beacon of faith, love, and dedication that will forever illuminate the path ahead.
