John Frederick Meyers

John Frederick Meyers

Our resident trivia champion has gone to heaven. John was born in Creston Iowa on December 11. 1951. His parents were Harry Joseph Meyers and Frances Ann (Lee) Big sister Paula was already there waiting to welcome him. After Liberty Center high school, he enlisted in the Navy and proudly served on the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Vietnam war. After the Navy, John met Rosemary Jean Cooper. They got married in a small country church in Iowa. Together, they had one son, Jacob Eli Meyers. John and (Rose) divorced, and John became a Jack of all trades. It seemed like there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix. In 2005, John came to visit his sister Paula and her husband Tom in Bayview Idaho. He fell in love with mountains and lakes and put the cornfields of Iowa behind him. Paula and Tom always said that John came for a visit, and never left. John and Tom became best buddies and would go on adventures together. Cruises up Lake Chelan, or visits to Mary Hill Museum were highlights. John was a friend to everyone. He had a sharp mind and could tell you what any old car was and all about it, or he would come up and ask you if you remembered episode 47 of Wagon Train. He would watch Jeopardy, and go head to head with the best of them. John leaves behind one son, Jacob, and a grandson, Hudson, as well as his loving sister Paula, and brother in law Tom and many friends at the Eagles Aerie #4080. At rest now in the Arms of Jesus. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at the V.A.Hospital during John’s last days especially Omar, Scott, and Rhonda. Also, Pastor Jon Anderson for the many visits to John in John’s last months.
