Joseph Ernest Rose, 85 of Newman Lake, Washington passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 9th, 2023 at Kootenai Medical Center, Coeur D’Alene, Idaho.
Joe was born in Monroe WA on December 27th, 1937 to Ernest and Francis (Peggy) Rose. The family later moved to Newman Lake where he grew up and went to school. He was in the Navy from 1956-1962, serving on the CA133 US Toledo where he was able to see much of the world. After the Navy, Joe worked as a mechanic and retired from the East Valley School District Bus Garage.
Motorcycles were a large part of Joe’s life having owned many over the years and he was a regular visitor to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. He also enjoyed square dancing and was a part of the River City Steppers dance club.
As an active member of the Newman Lake Tri Community Grange for decades, he could be counted on to participate in all activities such as fundraisers, recruiting and spaghetti feeds. He was known to be the first to volunteer to set up and the last to stay and clean up.
Survivors include longtime partner Patricia Ohop of Hayden Lake; sons Russell Rose of Anchorage AK, Byron Rose of Newman Lake WA and granddaughter Samantha Rose of Anchorage AK.
His final resting place will be Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls, ID and a remembrance will be held at the Newman Lake Tri County Community Grange Hall, 25025 E. Heather Lane, Newman Lake on July 8th at 10:00 a.m.
