Josephine Lang

Josephine Waneta (Lund} Lang passed away peacefully on January 14th at Kootenai Medical Center at the age of 91.   She was living with her daughter in Rathdrum, ID when she became ill.  Josephine (Jo) was born at home in Marysville, WA to parents, Albert W. Lund and Florence Gertrude (O’Neil) Lund, 1 of 5 children.  She was raised in the Tacoma, Puyallup area graduating from Fife High School in 1946.  She met and married James W. Redman, a Navy sailor from Colorado in 1947.  They made their home in Greeley CO. having 3 children before divorcing in 1953.  Jo returned to her parents Puyallup, WA home as a single mother with 3 children.

With 3 kids to support she took classes learning shorthand and accounting to start her career as a Secretary at Prudential Ins. in Tacoma and Title Clerk at Mallon Motors in S. Tacoma.  She married K. Fred Lang on February 21, 1962, who was an insurance adjuster.   We moved for Fred’s job to Olympia, then Kennewick, with them moving back to Olympia in 1968 until they retired in 1988.

Jo and Fred enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, playing games (Cards), and meeting people.  They purchased a motor home and planned, and did, travel to every state capital.  The plan was to travel for a few years and those few years turned into 15.  They were the picture of what retirement should be, enjoying traveling, meeting and making new friends, and seeing our country.

Josephine is survived by daughters Katherine W. (Redman) Roberts of Rathdrum, ID, Waneta L. Redman of Redford, MI, grandkids: Dawn Marie, Kimberly, Krysa all from Charleston SC, Rudy, William, Benjamin all from Redford, MI, and 12 great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth W. Redman, her husband K. Fred Lang, son-in-law Gary L. Roberts, parents Albert & Gertrude Lund, brothers John and James, sisters Dorothy and Margaret.

English Funeral Chapels & Crematory, Post Falls, ID is handling the arrangements.  No services are planned at this time.  There will be a Celebration of Life planned for this spring, April or May, with a notice of date and time.  She will be laid to rest with her husband, Fred, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA.
