Kathleen "Kathy" Manchego-Martin

Kathleen "Kathy" Cherie Manchego-Martin was born August 5, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ermand Manchego and Kathy Kirkman.  Kathy married the love of her life, Greg Martin, in 1988.  Together they raised 5 children; Junior Hendricks (Danica), Desiree Swenson (Joshua), Rainie Stiles, Amanda Pecor (Paul), and Morgan Hoeppner (Darel).  They moved to Cd’A, ID in 1993.  Their family grew by 12 grandchildren: Kylie (Dylan), Dyllan, Emirie, Destany, Blake, Kyler, Danyel, Trinity, Serenity, Ethan, Canyon and Baylee, and 1 great-grandchild, Greyson.  Kathy had an extensive family tree, including her brother, Tony (Cindy), and sisters Sandy (Randy), and Heather (James), Stormy (Steve) Paige (Page) and in-laws: Sheila (Tom), Gary (Dawn), Donna (Tony), Marilyn (Frank), Richard (Tanya) and Janice, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Kathy was preceded in death by both her parents and grandparents.

Kathy loved volunteering at church (Real Life Ministries-Post Falls, ID), cleaning homes, road-trips, talking and spending time with family, friends and her pups Bella and Eli (2018).

Greg and Kathy Martin loved their “gypsy” lifestyle of moving to different cities (including  an island!). They traveled from coast to coast.  They enjoyed boating, crabbing and fishing in places like the Puget Sound and the Gulf of Mexico.  They enjoyed their time riding around on the Harley, visiting new places and people-All the while spreading God’s word to those around them.

Kathy became part of the ALS community in Dec. 2016, joining ALSA, ALSSO, and The Matt’s Place Foundation, adding to the number of people in our family.  Soon after her diagnosis, she became a huge advocate for educating people on what ALS is, and rooting for a cure for the disease.  She pushed for education for the doctors, nurses, first responders, and for her community.  She encouraged all her fellow PALS to live life to the fullest, to always fight for their rights and freedoms, and to have faith that they would one day be set free of the confines of ALS.

April 27th, 2019 Kathy Manchego-Martin  won the battle against ALS.  She walked freely into the arms of her Lord, JESUS CHRIST!
