Kenneth Dean Gimbel

Kenneth Dean Gimbel, known to his loved ones as Ken, passed away on October 19, 2023, in Coeur d'Alene, ID. He was 66 years old. Ken was born in Pontiac, Michigan, to his mother, Ann Adelle Matterand Gimbel, and his late father, Dr. Hervey W. Gimbel.
Ken was a bold and boisterous individual who lived life to the fullest. He was a fun-loving and fearless friend and protector to those around him. Ken possessed a razor sharp intellect, a voracious thirst for knowledge and the uncanny ability to command any room. He was known for not conforming to societal norms and played life by his own rules. He built several businesses and worked across the US and Canada before settling in Coeur d’Alene, where he worked as a real estate agent. Ken was an honest man and a true blue confidant to many. He had an integrity first approach to parenthood and served as a lifelong mentor to his beloved son, Keith J. Gimbel of McKinney, Texas.
In addition to his son, Ken is survived by his loving mother, Ann Adelle Matterand Gimbel of Gresham, Oregon, his daughter in law, Alisha Gimbel and adored granddaughters, Mia Loren and Arianna Michelle.  He also leaves behind his beloved life partner, Ellen Lauschke Fisher of Coeur d’Alene and McKinney, Texas, and his four dear siblings: sister Shirley Tetz and husband Jim of LaCombe, Alberta, Canada; sister Denise Gimbel and husband Sherif Ayoub of San Luis Obispo, California; brother Marlin Gimbel and wife Carol of Chehalis, Washington; and sister Beverly Kramer and husband Roger of Gresham, Oregon. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends.
A celebration of Ken's remarkable life will be held on June 22, 2024 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. All who knew and loved him will be welcome to attend and pay their respects. Ken Gimbel's legacy will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched. May his spirit live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
