Kenneth Earl Timmons, 77, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, in the town where he was born and raised. His life was a testament to service, love, and unwavering faith.
Born on September 8, 1948, in Post Falls, Kenneth grew up with a deep appreciation for his community and family. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy and served honorably, embodying a commitment to duty that would define his life. After completing his military service, he pursued a career in law enforcement. He attended the police academy and began working at the Coeur d'Alene Police Department in June 1971. Over three decades of dedicated service later, he retired as a respected police captain in June 2002.
Dad found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing and collecting fishing lures, often sharing those moments with family and friends. He enjoyed road trips with his loyal companions, Luey the 1st and Luey the 2nd, as well as garage sales and coffee meetups with his closest friends, Fred and John, as well as family. He enjoyed Western novels and films, and his faith remained central to his life—he loved his Lord and Savior deeply and lived humbly so he could give generously to others.
Family was at the heart of everything Dad did. He is survived by his children: Mike Timmons, Katherine Timmons (Darrell), and Craig Timmons. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Dylan Timmons (Keirra) and Nicole Roberts; great-grandchildren, Ellyse Timmons and Isaiah Timmons; and his brother, Dwayne Timmons (Sharon). He will also be remembered by his nephews, Bill Beattie, Jeremy Beattie, Shane Timmons, and John Timmons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Earl Timmons and Louise Mae Lowden; his sister, Karen Louise Timmons; and his son, Kenneth Earl Timmons.
Those who knew Dad will remember him as a loyal father, grandfather, brother, and friend who lived selflessly. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer support at any hour. We will cherish memories of traveling together, exploring our ancestry, and taking spontaneous drives to one of his favorite places—the Oregon Coast. He especially enjoyed treating loved ones to lattes while driving through Kootenai County, reminiscing about days gone by.
Dad left behind words that reflect the depth of his faith and love: “Keep God close and keep the family together. Do not worry about me; I will be okay. I am going home, where I will wait for you.”
The world is undoubtedly emptier without our dad in it. May those who knew him find comfort in their memories of this remarkable man who gave so much to others during his lifetime.
Details for a celebration of life will be shared at a later date, with the service tentatively planned for the end of May.
