Lavern "Vern" Hill

Lavern E. Hill of Rathdrum, ID where he lived most of his life  passed away Oct. 17, 2019. He was 72.  Born to John H. and Ada Hill April, 26, 1947 in Bagley, Minnesota..

He married four times in his life. Most recently he was married to Judith (speed bump) Hill who passed away. He worked for Louisiana Pacific Mill in Post Falls, ID from the age of 17 until the mill closed. He opened a painting business, painting the interior and exteriors of houses.  He also drove truck for a short time delivering what he called honey pots, which were port-a-potties. Due to health problems he was unable to continue working.  He loved to play his musical instruments throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson as much as he could with his friends. He enjoyed restoring older vehicles, most recently an older Ford pickup and a GMC pickup that he won many awards for! He enjoyed working with wood. He also loved to cook and make his famous homemade BBQ sauce.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, his wife Judith Hill, and a granddaughter.

He is survived by his daughters Deanna Strong of Milton-Freewater, OR, and Penny Douglas of Hermiston, OR.Seven grandchildren, Four great-grandchildren and his sister Hazel Amunrud of Hermiston, OR.

A celebration of his life and memorial will be held in the spring of 2020. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to English Funeral Chapel.
