Leo Stanley Wall, 90, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, just one month shy of his 91st birthday.

Leo was born in Holyoke, Colorado on February 10, 1935, the fourth of five sons born to Earnest Clinton Wall and Ida Mae (Phifer) Wall. When Leo was seven years old, his father passed away, and the family relocated to Olympia, Washington, where they were warmly welcomed by extended family.

From an early age, Leo's passion for cars and motors was evident. He and his brothers created makeshift vehicles from whatever materials they could find, sparking a love affair with engines that would shape his entire career. Leo spent his working life in the petroleum business, specializing in gas, oil, and diesel—anything that would make a motor run.

Leo's entrepreneurial spirit emerged early. One of his first jobs was working on a chicken farm, but during his sophomore year, he began working at Baker Shell in Olympia. The summer of his junior year marked a pivotal moment when Leo and a friend, with a loan from the friend's grandfather, purchased the West Side Shell Service Station. This venture launched what would become a long and successful career in the petroleum industry. While in high school, Leo was instrumental in founding the Capitol City Cogs, a drag racing club that combined his love of cars with his natural leadership. He graduated from high school in 1953.

In 1952, Leo met the love of his life, Carol Pringle. They married on November 3, 1954, and celebrated 71 beautiful years of marriage together. Leo often said that there were two dates that mattered most to him: the day he married Carol, and January 23, 1953, the day he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

In 1966, Leo moved his family to Albany, Oregon, where he purchased a Shell Oil Bulk Plant. During his years in Albany, Leo was deeply involved at Albany First Assembly of God, serving as an elder for many years and as the official bus driver for youth choir tours. His commitment to his faith and his church family was a cornerstone of his life.

After retiring, Leo devoted himself to his beloved hobby: HO scale trains. His train layout was a train enthusiast's dream, and he and his friend Jim enjoyed selling inventory at train shows—though they invariably brought home more than they sold! His business venture was aptly named "Wall To Wall Trains."

Leo was quietly generous, always ready to help anyone in need. He was equally quick to offer a joke and throw back his head in hearty laughter. Above all, Leo loved to laugh and brought joy to everyone around him.

In 2015, Leo and Carol moved to Post Falls, Idaho to be near family, where they enjoyed life surrounded by the love of those who meant most to them.

Leo is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Carol; five adult children; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a 29th great-grandchild, to be named Leo, expected to be born in February 2026. He led a full and meaningful life, devoted to his faith, his family, and finding joy in each day.

The family will be holding a celebration of life on Saturday, January 24th at Mission Church . In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations are made to Union Gospel Mission, a ministry that was very close to Leo’s heart. www.uniongospelmission.org.
