Malcolm "Mac" Albert Campbell of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on July 26, 2025.

Mac was born on August 1, 1932 in Littleton, New Hampshire to Earle and Elizabeth Campbell. He grew up in Bethlehem, New Hampshire and was a member of the Bethlehem High School Class of 1950. He worked as a caddy at the local golf course during his high school years. He started at the University of New Hampshire before moving to Chicago where he trained to be an X-Ray Technician at Cook County Hospital. His career as an X-Ray Technician spanned 50 years. Upon completing his training, he followed his bride-to-be, Lois, to Tucson, Arizona where they were married in 1953. Mac and Lois were parents to Mark, Kim, and Rochelle.

Mac was an avid hiker. He joined the Southern Arizona Hiking Club in the early 60's, serving as their Chief Guide on 1963-64 and President in 1964-65. Mac and family moved to San Diego in 1967 where he hiked the trails/mountains of Southern California and the Sierra Nevada and beyond. Memorable adventures include the Grand Canyon, Mt. Rainier in Washington state, and a 10-day trek on part of the John Muir Trail. The culmination of his hiking career was a trek to the base camp of Mt. Everest in Nepal when he was 51 years old. His goal was to stand on the highest point in all 50 states. He did not quite accomplish that goal, however he had fun trying!

He spent the last ten years of his life married to Marie who he met while living in Fallon, Nevada. They moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 2015.

Mac is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Mark of San Diego, CA; daughters Kim (Bill) Conklin of Fallon, NV and Rochelle (Brian) Hotelling of Lakeside, CA. Mac had four grandchildren: Wendy, Mark, Megan, and Michael. He also had seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Arrangements are entrusted to English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene. To share memories or leave condolences, please visit their tribute page at http://www.englishfuneralchapel.com. Mac will be laid to rest on a hillside at the Starr King Cemetery in Jefferson, New Hampshire where he will have an unobstructed view of the Presidential Range including Mt. Washington.
