Maxine Pfundheller

Maxine Lucille Ove Pfundheller passed away February 1, 2022 in Coeur d'Alene Idaho, surrounded by loved ones including her husband of nearly 75 years, Hill Pfundheller, her daughters Jackie Kucera and Cyndie Lempesis and her son Brent Pfundheller.

Her final waking moments were spent in prayer and love and in the secure knowledge that she was joining her Father in heaven.

Maxine was born to Max and Cailla Ove in North Dakota in January 1928. She had a farm girl's childhood with her sisters Irene, Lorraine, Marge, Shirley and brother Stan. She attended teacher's college and began teaching in a one room schoolhouse at only 16 years old.

She married the love of her life in September 1947. They started their married life in Van Hook North Dakota, farming and raising four nearly perfect children. In 1965 they moved to Montana and enjoyed the ranching life. Later they transitioned to a life in construction. Homebuilding took them to Idaho, Washington, Alaska and Arizona and finally back to Idaho to retire.

Wherever Maxine lived, she found a home church and good friends. In retirement, she and Hill traveled extensively- throughout the US and the world. Whether it was Nashville, Mexico, Hawaii, London, Beirut or camping at the river, she had fun and lived life to the fullest. Watching the grandchildren excel at sports, enjoying the Pfun-Johns putting on a show, showing pride in kids and grandkids accomplishments, teaching granddaughters to make lefse, seeing her kids and then her grandkids create their own families gave her great joy. She and Hill wintered in Arizona for 35 years.

Maxine was a fine cook who loved to plan and put on family meals. In addition to sewing, knitting and crocheting, she was an avid reader of many books, especially the Bible and books that built her faith. She was always up for a card game whether it be Gin Rummy, Whist, Pinochle or the latest board game. She was a kind and comforting friend.

Maxine's motto was "Faith, Family and Friends!" If you enquired about how she was doing, her response was "I am so blessed."

Maxine will be missed by so many friends and most especially by her husband Hill, her son Brent (Jan), daughter Jackie (Frank), daughter Cyndie, her sister Shirley as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren and even a great great grandchild! Maxine now joins her parents, siblings and her son Brad.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m with a funeral starting at 11:00 a.m at Peace Lutheran Church, 8134 N. Meyer Rd. Post Falls, Idaho. A burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls, Idaho.
