Michael Allen Fruechtl passed away September 16, 2021, at the age of 75. Michael was born in Coeur d’Alene, ID, to Francis “Frank” & Dolores Fruechtl on September 5th, 1946. Michael is survived by daughter & husband, Tamara & David Printz. Daughters; Debbie “Lu” Fruechtl & Tana Nuxoll. Sons; Christopher & Wife Sheila Hawthorne, and Justin Fruechtl. Michael also had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; he loved them all very much!
Michael grew up in Coeur d’Alene, ID. From a very young age he worked with his father and grandfather as a masonry; he helped his family build all the federal buildings, St. Thomas Church, and most of the brick buildings downtown Coeur d’Alene. He also worked in the silver valley mines for a short time along with some masonry work in Colorado. He returned to Cd ’A and a few years later, was drafted to Vietnam in 1968. Michael served for two years before being wounded by a mortar. He was honorably discharged shortly after due to his injuries. Upon coming back to the US, Michael started working as a bar tender at the iconic, Rathskellers Club. Being the “Character”, he was he soon found himself in Boise, but he couldn’t stay away from his hometown. So, he moved back to Cd’ A and started his career in the logging industry. He worked in many of the mills throughout Coeur d’ Alene but ended up retiring from Crown Pacific in the late 90’s. Michael lived out the rest of his life enjoying the woods and rivers, gathering firewood, & camping with his family and dogs. Michael loved all animals especially his own. He’ll be missed by everyone that had to opportunity to know him, especially by all his family. We love you and will miss you deeply Father!
