Michael Kenneth Peters

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Kenneth Peters on December 7, 2023. Mike was born to Beulah Peters and Kenneth Peters in Spokane, Washington on January 3, 1948. He attended elementary school in Spokane prior to moving to Hayden Lake where he attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy. He was a talented football player, contributed to many state championships, and earned the honor of Idaho All State guard in 1966.

After graduating from high school, he entered the construction trade learning many important skills from his Grandpa Elmer Smith. Mike had a natural ability to look at a set of prints and customize it to fit the owner's dreams. He built many prestigious, custom homes in Kootenai county in a career that lasted over 45 years. He was honest with his clients and fair with his subs. In all respects, he was "a contractor's contractor". After retiring, he loved working on various projects from family decks to bluebird boxes. Building was in his blood, and he loved what he accomplished. Mike enjoyed camping with his family at the St. Joe and Lake Koocanusa, spending time relaxing at the family cabin on the Bull River, and salmon fishing in Barkley Sound with his brother, Jim and son Jake. He loved playing cards and games with his children and grandchildren....Go Farkle King! He was master of the robo call and spent many hours in deep conversation every morning with dear friends on any topic one could name. He was an avid gardener and was especially proud of his gigantic, hundred-pound pumpkins. Mike will be remembered for his generosity, his drive to help others, and his integrity.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne, and their daughters Betsy Black (son-in-law Barry Black), Sarah Peters (son-in-law Scott Weddle), Emily Post (son-in-law DeWitt Dominick) and son Jake Peters (daughter-in-law Jodie Miller-Peters). He also leaves behind grandchildren Hailey, Jordyn, Henry and Ernest, as well as great-grandchildren Paisely and Spencer, sister Pam Fink of Coeur d'Alene, and Jim Peters of Seattle, Washington.

Our deep gratitude goes out to the caring staff at Fresenius Dialysis Clinic in Hayden Lake and to the dedicated people at Kootenai Health who gave Mike and his family solace during this difficult time.
A celebration of Mike's life is planned for the Spring of 2024 at the family home.  Please check back for service info.
