A celebration of life for Michael Bruce Robinson will be held May 17, 2025 at 1 pm at the Bayview Community Center. Bruce passed on December 17, 2024 at his home in Bayview, Idaho. He was born January 1st 1943 in St. John Washington to Mike & Merle Robinson.
Bruce graduated from Freeman High School in 1961. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966. From 1963-1966 he was stationed aboard the USS Chipola, AO-63. Home port was Pearl Harbor with half of each year spent refueling the Seventh Fleet off the coast of Vietnam.
Bruce worked as an electric motor winder for Westinghouse, later becoming Eastern Electric and eventually Grand Eagle, with a period of self-employment running his own shop called Agri-Industrial Electric and a wrought iron candleholder company called Candlestix in between. After retiring from motor winding, Bruce and wife Judy managed the Bitter End Marina in Bayview from 1996-2005.
In 1969, Bruce married Judy Hirschel and they enjoyed 55 1/2 years together. Their son, Alex, was born in 1972 and daughter, Doreen, in 1974.
Sailing brought Bruce and Judy to Bayview. They moved to Bayview after buying their home in 1993. They were active in the Lake Pend Oreille Yacht Club, the Bayview Bible Church, Chamber of Commerce and spent countless hours contributing their time and labor to the Community Center.
After retiring, Bruce and Judy posted Bayview activities on the readerboards in town. Bruce delighted in putting up Burma Shave jingles and quotes when there weren’t many notices to post. He even looked for quotes when they traveled around the US in their RV.
Bruce was a loving son, husband and father. He was a very kind and caring man with a wonderful sense of humor, and he loved to laugh. He enjoyed working with wood using hand tools to create amazingly detailed pieces that usually featured precisely-fitted mortise and tenon joinery and dovetails. Bruce had the ability to visualize a project and create it exactly as he pictured it in his mind without the need of making plans or drawings.
Bruce is survived by his wife Judy, son Alex, sister Carol and family. His daughter Doreen passed in 2022. His loss is immeasurable and he is greatly missed.
