It is with great sadness and heavy heart that we share with everyone that Morris passed away on March 29, 2026 at home in Post Falls where he wanted to be. His cherished wife and partner of 45 years, Carol was by his side. Morris fought a hard long battle for several years with an incurable lung disease (ILD). His well-known sense of humor never left him, even at the end. Morris was a hardworking, generous man. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and always was willing to help anyone who needed a hand.
Morris John Prosser was born November 18, 1949 in Ely, Nevada. He was the son of Reese John Prosser and Eileen Mulvaney Prosser. Morris spent his younger years in Ely, Nevada. After High School he moved to the Bonners Ferry, Idaho area where his uncle lived and his grandfather lived, who was Sheriff of Boundary County. While in Bonners Ferry he met and married Kathy Tift. Morris and Kathy adopted two children, Julie Autumn Prosser Bach and Jeremy John James Prosser. Morris and Kathy later divorced in 1980. A friend introduced Morris to Carol Woodward in 1981. They quickly knew that they were to be soulmates for life. They were married August 8, 1981 in Ely, Nevada and journeyed through life as a couple until Morris passed away, no longer in pain or suffering.
Morris was employed in the planer department of sawmills in the area. He used to say he thought he worked in the planer department of every sawmill in the area from Boundary County and Kootenai County. Then he would say he also worked for 11 years for WI in Spokane, Washington until they closed the mill.
Morris loved and appreciated the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were a major part of Morris’s life when not working. Hunting was probably his favorite thing which is evidenced by the large elk horns and a bear head on his living room wall. He spent many enjoyable hours in the mountains and on the lakes with his hunting and fishing partner, his brother-in-law, Terry Cravens. Those were very special times in his life.
After Morris retired, a cousin got him interested in family genealogy. He spent many hours researching where his family was from. He found a lot of interesting stories and newspaper articles. Morris and Carol took several trips in search of cemeteries and genealogy places he could glean information from. He also found family members and connected with them. He always carried a small notebook, pen and camera so he could document the information until he got home to his computer to put the information in his family tree genealogy.
Morris is predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Bruce Prosser, Henderson Nevada, James Prosser, Willamette, Oregon, and his sisters Linda Roseavear, Wendover, Nevada, and Wilma Gomez(Jan 2026) Reno, Nevada.
Morris is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol at the Post Falls home, children Julie Autumn Bach(Ed), Jay Prosser, grandchildren Whitney Berry(Brandon), Lee Bach, Gabrielle Prosser and Emma Prosser and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremated remains have been entrusted to English Funeral Home in Post Falls. Funeral service will be held at the Bonners Ferry Funeral home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho in April 2026. Date to be announced later.
